CHAPTER 1-9

a. How did the people’s reaction toward the boa constrictor drawing affect the pilot’s life? What does it tell you about how adults should treat children?

*The reaction of the adults towards the picture affected the pilot’s life because, since the adults said that, “that is hat!” the pilot was discouraged because the adults did not think outside the box. They weren’t thinking of what he was thinking, the adults are looking at the picture generally. Adults should treat children fairly as if they are putting themselves in their “shoes” and agree on what they have created and encourage them to do thing that are good for them.

b. How did the pilot finally draw he exact sheep wanted by the little prince? What does this tell you?

*The pilot thought, “outside the box” and thought “the best things comes in little packages”. So he drew a picture of a box/ package and the sheep was inside it is good to be creative and think outside the box.

c. Why nobody believed the Turkish astronomer when he talked about Asteroid B-612 for the first time? What does this tell you about grownups?

*They did not believe the astronomer because he did not dress like the majority. Grownups would like to be treated respectfully even if it means the silliest things.

d. When do they describe that a house is beautiful? What does this tell you?

* Adults describe a house to be beautiful when it is expensive. This tells me that grownups in the story are only after the cost of the house but the quality of it.

e. What are baobabs? What aspect of life do they reflect?

*Baobabs are large trees and once they grow tall they would be hard to remove. They reflect that once a person is like that it would be hard for him to change what he is.

f. How did the little prince react when the pilot replied, “matters of great consequence”? Why did the little prince react that way?

*The little prince reacted furiously, angrily and shocked. The little prince reacted that way because to him life always doesn’t have to be, “matters of great consequence.” It might be a “matter of great consequence” to you but not to the others.

g. What is meant by, “It is such a secret place, the land of tears?

*It means that someone expressing his sadness, sorrow, pain and anger is rarely seen or expressed. It is important to let everyone else what you feel so that they can help you.

h. What aspect of life is reflected by the “volcanoes”?

*The volcanoes reflect life within it, the importance to the little prince and how we should always care for it to preserve it because one never knows.

i. Who uttered the line, “I must endure the presence of two or three caterpillars if I wish to become acquainted with the butterflies”? What significant message is implied?

*The flower of the little prince. This means one should endure hardships and contribute to something in need in order obtain success.

j. “She coughed two or three times in order to put the little prince in the wrong.” What is the context behind this line? What characteristic is shown on the statement? How is this seen on real life?

*The flower would like to make the little prince feel guilty. People want them to be appreciated. Self-centered/ self-consciousness. People wants attention sometimes, but some people wants “the world to revolve around them.”

k. How will you describe the relationship of the little prince ad the flower?

*They’re relationship is tight because the little prince doesn’t like to leave his flower when he first saw it and when he was about to travel.
